Let's Get Planted!
A favorite place of mine...
"Planted in the house of the Lord,
they THRIVE in the courts of our God!"
Psalm 92:13 (CSB)
Nestled in the Ol Pejeta Conservancy in the Kenya highlands, you will see a favorite tree of mine (check out the photo)!
Facing Mount Kenya and sitting smack dab on the equator, it thrives.
This decades-old tree weathers storms, provides a haven for birds, and causes joy for the people - and not a few warthogs! - blessed enough to find shelter under its shade.
It is also beautiful!
It thrives because it is planted.
Light pouring in from the sun, rain falling from the sky, air blowing in on a breeze and nutrients alive in the soil all combining with time produce this beautiful tree.
The culmination of these elements require the tree to be planted and location is critical.
God makes a promise for those who are planted in the house of the Lord!
Numerous descriptive passages on planting can be found in our Bibles.
One of them provides this huge promise God makes to those planted in His house!
"Planted in the house of the Lord,
they THRIVE in the courts of our God!"
Psalm 92:13 (CSB)
Thrive denotes action!
Synonyms include flourish, burgeon, blossom, and expand!
That's a lot of beautiful growing!
I don't know what life may be throwing your way this week, but I want to encourage you that God has not forgotten you. As you plant yourself deeply in Him, with all your concerns and worries in tow (you can drop them off at His feet), He will make a way for you! All the spiritual nutrients we need to face another day or another minute are found in Him.
Here are some Bible passages just for you today. Verses about the inherent value of planting our lives in Christ!
"The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree,
he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
Those who are planted in the house of the Lord
shall flourish in the courts of our God.
They shall still bear fruit in old age;
they shall be fresh and flourishing,
to declare that the Lord is upright;
He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him."
Psalm 92:12-15 (NKJV)
"So they will be called oaks of righteousness,
the planting of the Lord,
that He may be glorified."
Isaiah 61:3 (NKJV)
"Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord,
and whose hope is the Lord.
For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters,
which spreads out its roots by the river,
and will not fear when heat comes;
but its leaf will be green,
and will not be anxious in the year of drought,
nor will cease from yielding fruit."
Jeremiah 17:7-8 (NKJV)
"Blessed is the man
who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,
nor stands in the path of sinners,
nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
but his delight is in the law of the Lord,
and in His law he meditates day and night.
He shall be like a tree
planted by the rivers of water,
that brings forth its fruit in its season,
whose leaf also shall not wither;
and whatever he does shall prosper."
Psalm 1:1-3 (NKJV)
May God cause you to blossom and grow this week as you find yourself planted in Jesus!
